I am the Creator of Connection

“I am the creator of connection” – HP

My eyes welled up and I got goosebumps when my client expressed these wise words. What can be more powerful than being the creator in a chaotic situation?

When we make the mind-shifts that are necessary to know at the core of our body that we are the creators of our life experiences, we take control of our life. We can take a crappy situation and make it better.

Right now it is so easy to feel out of control of our lives. We’ve been told by the government of Colorado to stay at home when we are used to having control of where we go. We feel fear of COVID19 because we don’t even know if/ how/ when we were exposed or if we will get sick. We can’t control people losing their jobs and bad things happening to good people.

What we can control are our thoughts. We can create control in our lives by choosing thoughts that serve and support us. When we change our thoughts, we choose actions that serve and support us and allow us to feel our best and interact with our family in the most positive way possible.

If my child is having a tantrum and at that very moment I remember “I am the creator of connection,” my actions will lead me to connection rather than disconnection. Instead of shaming the child for having feelings and sending him to his room, I have the power at that moment to listen, to connect with his fears, anxieties, or basic needs like hunger, or a need to pee – and I can care for these needs. When he is listened to and cared for at that deep, core level, he will naturally calm and feel more connected with me because I just gave him the support he needed.
